Welcome to Our Classroom!
Hello and welcome! I’m so excited to be your child’s teacher this year and can’t wait to get to know your family.
Kindergarten is such a special year, and I look forward to helping your child learn, grow, and build a love for school!
A little about me… I have been married to my wonderful husband, John, for many years. Together we have three
children—Austin, Justin, and Ashley—and two sweet grandchildren, Jayden and Jaxon, who bring so much joy to
our family.
I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a little girl. I loved playing “school” with my younger sisters, and
that dream has grown into a career I truly love. I have 33 years of teaching experience, working with children from
infants through second grade. I spent 20 years teaching in child care centers and have proudly served in the public
school system for the past 13 years. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Birth-Kindergarten Teacher Education from
East Carolina University and hold teaching licenses in both Birth-Kindergarten and Kindergarten through Sixth
Grade.
In our classroom, we work hard to create a place where everyone feels safe, loved, and valued. I encourage
students to always be kind and respectful, take care of our classroom materials, keep their learning space neat,
and do their very best each day. Being at school on time and staying for the entire school day is also very
important. Every minute of learning counts, and when students arrive late or leave early, they miss valuable
instruction and special classroom experiences that cannot be replaced.
I believe that strong communication between home and school helps children be successful. I use ClassDojo as my
primary way to stay connected with families. Please feel free to message me anytime between 6:30 a.m. and 4:00
p.m. with questions, concerns, or transportation changes. I usually respond within about 10 minutes during those
hours. Messages received after 4:00 p.m. may not be answered until the next school day.
Thank you for sharing your precious child with me. I am honored to be part of their kindergarten journey, and I look
forward to a year filled with learning, laughter, new friendships, and wonderful memories!
